A REALITY-BASED TELEVISION SERIES EXPLORING THE ADVENTURE AND
CHALLENGE OF EARLY AVIATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A SMALL GROUP OF
MODERN ENTHUSIASTS, GAINING FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE OF WWI ERA
FLIGHT…BY BLOOD, SWEAT AND THE SEAT OF THEIR PANTS.
THE PROGRAM
INTRODUCES a colorful and diverse gathering of personalities
who guide us in their own words through the challenges and rewards of building
and flying their own WWI era fighter planes. Follow their progress from raw material beginnings to
the nerve-racking anticipation of maiden test flights.
Join them in the cockpit and on the road as they travel from
old-fashioned fly-ins to "the other side of the ropes" at
major air shows, rubbing elbows with P-51s and F/A-18s. They will
share with us the appreciation and unique understanding they have
gained of their early predecessors and the actual machines that went
to war. And finally, follow them to the bucolic
countryside of rural Pennsylvania, where their endeavors
culminate in the ultimate visceral experience: attacking the
trenches at one of the most remarkable WWI reenactments on the
planet.
WEEKEND
WARBIRDS welcomes the
viewer into this remarkable world of the do-it-yourself warbird
builder, inviting them to “slip the surly bonds” and venture with
the likes of THE KANSAS CITY DAWN PATROL into the fulfillment of
fantasy, and the realization of dreams.
